Artist Showcase

This month's Artist Showcase will feature students of the Independence Community School District in 7th -12th grades. Their art, created in classes with Chris Juhl, will be on display Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with an artist's reception on Sunday when some of the artist may be available for questions and photographs. The Artist Showcase is free and open to the public.

Genealogy @ The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library for the next set of Genealogy Sessions on March 12th. Linda Greethurst will return to the IPL to present Maps-A Vital Tool For Successful Genealogy Research from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and Genealogical Treasures In Newspapers from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. All Genealogy Sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, or get more information, stop in at the library or call us at 334-2470. Closing Early for Staff Development

Stage Make-Up Workshop At The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library on March 10th for the Stage Make-Up Workshop with Mary Burkett from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Participants (age 12 and up) will learn the basics and get to try it out for themselves. The program is free, but registration is required. The Magic of Our Memories

Those who enjoyed the Memoir Project may want to visit the Independence Public Library before the next round starts on April 6th.
Mary Kay Shanley will be here on March 9th at 10:00 AM to present The Magic of Our Memories. She'll discuss discuss the importance of our memories, delighting in the commonality we share, and ways of interpreting the past – through oral histories, storytelling and journalizing. This program is free and open to the public.

Adventures in Nature: Fly Like An Eagle!

Join the Independence Public Library for another round of Adventures In Nature. Ashley Sherrets with the Buchanan County Agricultural Extension District will be here at the IPL on March 9th for Adventures In Nature: Fly Like An Eagle from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. We'll learn all about the Bald Eagle, make a craft, and even have a snack. The program is best suited for those in kindergarten through 5th grade, but anyone is welcome to attend, and no registration is required.

Genealogy @ The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library for the second round of Genealogy Sessions. On March 7th Dennis Allen will be at the IPL to teach us Photo Touch-Up With Microsoft Paint from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and Cemetery & Funeral Home Research from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. All Genealogy Sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
