Games'n'Goodies!

Games"n'Goodies is back again this Tuesday (September 1st) from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The Independence Public Library host Games'n'Goodies in the Community Room every first and third Tuesday of the month. It's a great place to relax with some adult conversation and a little bit of fun. There's no need to register, and the program is free and open to the public, so bring a friend. We'll see you there!

Games'n'Goodies!

Cards'n'Convo has been updated and expanded! We now have games, which calls for a name change. Games'n'Goodies will be held every first and third Tuesday of the month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Community Room. Adults looking for a little fun and refreshments with friends can stop on by. There's no registration required, and the event is free and open to the public. The next Games'n'Goodies starts at 1:00 PM on August 18th.

Family LEGO Night!

Join us at the Independence Public Library for Family LEGO Night on August 17th. From 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM the IPL will have LEGOs ready for imaginative minds of all ages to build and create. There is no need to register, and all the LEGOs will be provided. Stop in with the whole family for a brick load of fun!

Zen Doodle Day!

Join the Independence Public Library for another Zen Doodle Day! This Saturday (August 1st) you can stop in at the IPL from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (in the Community Room) to relax and draw. Zen Doodle Day is free and open to the public. There's no need to register, and all supplies will be provided; simply come and enjoy!

Spy Night @ The IPL

Teens and Tweens in grades 5-12 can sign up now for the Independence Public Library's Spy Night. Participants will learn spy skills and make gadgets for their spy adventures. Spy Night is on June 24th, 2015 and begins at 5:00 PM. This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Community Shred Day!

Join the Independence Public Library and BankIowa for a Community Shred Day! There's no registration or cost, but there are a few limitations. (Click the link or call the IPL for more information, 334-2470)
The Community Shred Day is on July 11th, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Onsite Information Destruction truck will be located in the parking lot next to the Lee Mansion.

Rhyme Time and Story Time Both on Thursdays In July!

Story Time is returning for July on Thrusdays, right after Rhyme Time!

Rhyme Time is a "Lap Sit" program for babies age 0 to 2 and their parent or caregiver to teach early reading and language skills through rhyme, reading, and rhythm. It's a fun and simple way for you and your baby to participate together in the fun of learning each week.
Rhyme Time is a free program that starts every Thursday at 9:30 AM.

Story Time is a weekly reading program for children age 2 to 5. Each week there will be fun with books followed by a craft or coloring to encourage growing readers. Story Time is a great way to introduce structured learning in a fun and creative invironment before your little one starts preschool or kindergarten
Story Time is a free program that starts every Thursday (in July) at 10:00 AM.

Make A Mask At The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library on No School Monday (April 20th) for Superhero Masks! Any time from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM kids of all ages are invites to stop in and make their very own Superhero Mask. The Magic of Our Memories

Those who enjoyed the Memoir Project may want to visit the Independence Public Library before the next round starts on April 6th.
Mary Kay Shanley will be here on March 9th at 10:00 AM to present The Magic of Our Memories. She'll discuss discuss the importance of our memories, delighting in the commonality we share, and ways of interpreting the past – through oral histories, storytelling and journalizing. This program is free and open to the public.

Genealogy At The IPL!

Starting February 28th, the Independence Public Library will be hosting a series of Genealogy Sessions in the Community Room. You can get the basics in Genealogy 101 this Saturday (Feb. 28th) with Tony Bengston, and take more specific courses in the month of March. It's Been 119 Years!

A certain chewy chocolate treat is celebrating it's 119th anniversary today. This popular candy can often be found flying freely through the air at parades, or trapped in the center of hard sugar candy perched on a stick. Know what it is? The Tootsie Roll! Stop in at the library today (February 23rd) and get a taste to celebrate!
