Flutterby Bits

This and That

School is back in session and the library is quieter during the daytime hours.  It takes some adjustment!

“Wild Wednesday” with the Buchanan County Agricultural Extension Office begins this month on September 16th.  This will be a bi-monthly afterschool program from 3:30 to 5pm and is most suited for the K-5 age group.  The first program, “Geology Rocks!” will be led by Alexia Hamlett.  We get to make and play with play-doh along with learning some hard facts about rocks!  Snacks will be provided.  Sounds like a fun afternoon to me!
I do like it when we have the Extension at the Library.  There have been incidents where we have built huge Eagle’s nests, had noodle fights, and gathered acorns from the oak trees in the front of the Library!  You never know what may occur!

The library is now offering “Arts & Craft” kits that can be checked out and used in the Library.  These can be good help if you are working on a school project or just need a craft activity to fill sometime.

“Bundle 2 Go” book bundles are sets of five
themed books ready to be checked out.
If you are in a hurry and need a quick set of
books to take home to share with your young readers,
this is just the thing!

September is National Library Card sign-up month.  If you do not have a card – now is the perfect time to get one.   If you have lost or misplaced your current card – you can have it replaced at no charge this month only.

We do hope to see you soon.  I am already missing all the beautiful Summer smiles!  (I like Fall and Winter ones just as well!!)
