Cards'nConvo

Join the Independence Public Library for some social time with classic card games. Cards'n'Convo is every First and Third Tuesday of the month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The next Cards'n'Convo is May 19th at it's regular time. The event is always free to attend and there is no need to register. Just come ready to play.

Train To Be A Superhero At The IPL!

Stop in at the Independence Public Library's Community Room for the Superhero Training Academy from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on May 19th, 2015. We'll bring out the hero in you, just in time for the Summer Reading Program  "Every Hero Has A Story!"

The Superhero Training Academy is free and open to the public, and there is no registration required.

iTAB Meeting!

Teens can join the IPL for the next iTAB Meeting on May 18th, 2015 at 6:30 PM. The Independence Public Library's Teen Advisory Board is a group for teens in 6th-12th grades who would like to get involved with the library. Join us for fun and brainstorming!

Summer Reading Program Is Coming!

Get geared up for Summer Reading Program! You can now register for this year's program online, and be sure to stop in on May 20th to get your EVIL BINGO card. The Evil Bingo prequel runs until the "Every Hero Has A Story" Summer Reading Program begins on June 1st.

Writer's Showcase!

Join the Independence Public Library to honor the winners of the Northeast Iowa Reading Council Creative Writing and Poetry Contest. The Writers Showcase will begin at 6:30 PM in the Community Room, and will feature winning students from Independence and St. John's grades K-12

Staff Development

The Independence Public Library will be closing early at 5:00 PM on May 13th, 2015 for our monthly Staff Development. Normal hours will resume on Thursday.

Adventures in Nature: Insect Inspection

Join the Independence Public Library for the next Adventures In Nature on May 11th. This month's theme is Insect Inspection. Participants will learn how to identify insects, hunt for insects, and be provided a snack. Adventures In Nature is free and open to the public of all ages, but is best suited for children in grades k-5. Alexia Hamlett from the Buchanan County Agricultural Extension District will begin the program at 6:00 PM. Be sure to bring your friends!
