iPad Q&A!

Need a little help with your iPad? The Independence Public Library is holding another iPad Q&A session on August 20th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the Community Room. You can register for the session at the library or give us a call at 334-2470. This program is free and open to the public, but space is limited, so be sure to register.

Harry Potter Trivia Night!

Drop in at the Independence Public Library for Harry Potter Trivia Night! The fun starts at 6:30 PM on August 10th. This program is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register, just come and enjoy the fun. If you'd like to catch up on the world of witches and wizards before then, there are many Harry Potter materials available for checkout.

Cards'n'Convo!

The Independence Public Library will be holding it's next Cards'n'Convo on July 21st from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Cards'n'Convo is held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, and is the perfect place for fun, relaxation, and some light conversation. There is no need to register. Cards'n'Convo is free and open to the public.

Basic Drawing Class At The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library on June 17th, 2015 for a Basic Drawing Class. Students will practice pencil drawing for dogs. You can bring a picture of your own dog or try one of the images provided. The fun starts at 6:30 PM, but space is limited, so be sure to register.

Facebook Q&A @ The IPL!

The Independence Public Library will be holding a Facebook Q&A session on June 18th, 2015 at 6:30 PM. If you are just getting started and need some direction, or are a little lost in the latest updates, Facebook Q&A may be just right for you. Real Life Heroes @ The IPL!

Stop in at the Independence Public Library for "To Hell And Back", a one man show performed by Duffy Hudson about the life of Medal of Honor recipient Audie Murphy. The presentation will begin at 2:00 PM on June 14th, 2015. This program is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register.

Music @ The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library and the African American Museum of Iowa on June 11th, 2015 at 6:30 PM for a presentation on the history of Music in America. The presentation "Behind The Beat" is free and open to the public. There is no need to register, simply come and enjoy.

Rockets!

Join the Independence Public Library and the Bluedorn Science Imaginarium of the Grout Museum District on June 10th for Rockets Away. Children will learn about, and get to watch rockets being lunched. And since this program is part of the Summer Reading Program, each child will get a reward for coming, and there's no need to register. The fun starts at 9:30 AM

Story Time is Taking A Break!

With all the great programs going on for the Summer Reading Program the IPL's calendar is getting a little tight, so for the month of June Story Time will be taking a break, and will return in July on Thursdays at 10:00 AM. Those who enjoy Story Time might want to give Drama Time a try.

Drama Time is stories and fun with the Independence High School Speech and Drama Students. It will be held every Friday in June at 9:30 AM, and is open to all children from ages 2 to 12. Drama Time is free and open to the public, and there is no registration needed.

P.S. Rhyme Time will continue this summer at it's normal time every Thursday at 9:30 AM.

Cards'n'Convo @ The IPL!

Stop in at the Independence Public Library on June 2nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for the next Cards'n'Convo. There will be games and light conversation. Cards'n'Convo is held every first and third Tuesday of the month, and is always free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Cards'nConvo

Join the Independence Public Library for some social time with classic card games. Cards'n'Convo is every First and Third Tuesday of the month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The next Cards'n'Convo is May 19th at it's regular time. The event is always free to attend and there is no need to register. Just come ready to play.

Train To Be A Superhero At The IPL!

Stop in at the Independence Public Library's Community Room for the Superhero Training Academy from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on May 19th, 2015. We'll bring out the hero in you, just in time for the Summer Reading Program  "Every Hero Has A Story!"

The Superhero Training Academy is free and open to the public, and there is no registration required.

iTAB Meeting!

Teens can join the IPL for the next iTAB Meeting on May 18th, 2015 at 6:30 PM. The Independence Public Library's Teen Advisory Board is a group for teens in 6th-12th grades who would like to get involved with the library. Join us for fun and brainstorming!

Internet Basics At The IPL!

Stop in at the library for Internet Basics. The Independence Public Library will hold the class from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on April 28th, 2015. This class is perfect for those new to the computer, with tips on searching and clarification of vocabulary. The course is free and open to the public, but space is limited. "The Monuments Men" At The IPL!

Join the Independence Public Library to view the movie "The Monuments Men" in the Community Room on April 21st, 2015. The film will begin at 6:30 PM. There is no cost to attend, and free popcorn will be provided by the Friends of The Library.
This is a great opportunity to see the film before the presentation (Iowa's Own Monument Man) by Nancy Trask on April 30th, 2015. The presentation will show us the life of George Stout (the man George Clooney's character is based on) who grew up right here in Iowa.
