Join The Friends of The Library!
Join the Friends of the Independence Public Library at their monthly meeting being held this Thursday (August 6th) at 7:00 PM. If you're interested in getting involved, the meetings are open to the public and are held the first Thursday of every month.

Join The Friends of The Independence Public Library!
The Friends of The Independence Public Library is an organization that supports the library through advocacy and fundraising and will be holding their monthly meeting this Thursday (July 2nd, 2015). They'll be getting ready for the 4th of July parade here in Independence.
You may have already heard of the Friends of The Library. They hold a great Book Sale every spring and fall, and support many of the IPL's programs and services. Their support has included purchasing a number of magazines and Just Right Books, providing popcorn for movie showings, and supporting the Summer Reading Program each year.
If you'd like to get involved, the group holds a meeting every first Thursday of the month for members and anyone interested in supporting the library. If you'd like to join you can print a membership brochure from the library's website (click on the Friends tab at the top of the page) or stop in at the IPL and pick one up.

Friends of the Library Book Sale!
The Friends of the Library are having their Spring book sale this weekend. Proceeds from the sale go towards the library. The Friends of the Library is an organization that helps the library out by raising money for different programs. They have raised money for the Summer Reading Program, Online book Clubs through Dear Reader, magazine subscriptions, just to name a few.
The Book Sale is Saturday 9am - 4:00pm and Sunday 1:00-3:00pm.
Saturday Prices:

Teen/Adult Hardcover - $2.00
Teen/Adult Paperback - $.50
CDs and DVDs - $2.00
Sunday Prices:
One bag of books - $5.00

Movies For No School Monday
Join the Independence Public Library on No School Monday for Reel Time x2. We'll be showing a movie at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on January 19th, 2015, in the Community Room. You don't have to register, and there's no cost to attend. And be sure to try some of the free popcorn from the Friends of The Independence Public Library.

The Friends of The Library Book Sale is Coming!

Saturday, October 18th, 2014
9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Sunday, October 19th, 2014
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
On Saturday all children's books will be $.50, all teen and adult hardcover books will be $2.00, and any teen and adult paperback books will be $.50. If you're looking for a bigger deal, stop in on Sunday too. On Sunday you only pay $4.00 for each bag of books.

Looking for Volunteer Readers for the 4th of July!
Volunteer Readers Needed for Independence Day!
The Friends of the Independence Public Library is getting a group together to read the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July! About 15 volunteers are needed...each to read a segment of the declaration.Volunteers will meet at the band shell in River Walk Park at 11:15 AM and begin reading at 11:20 AM. If you're interested in helping out you can contact Lois Stout at 334-6702.
The Friends of The Independence Public Library is a non-profit group of volunteers that raise money and support the IPL in various ways. Monthly meetings are held at the library on the first Thursday of each month (the next one will be August 7 at 6:00 pm).
