November Is Ready, Are You?

Get Ready to write, November 1st is coming!
If you haven't signed up yet, head to the NaNoWriMo or the Young Writers Program websites and get started. Then connect with the IPL by adding "Vanillafire" as a writing buddy (on NaNoWriMo) or joining the "IPL Young Writers" classroom (on the Young Writers Program.)
You can also register on November 1st, at the library's Kick-Off Party (Noon to 1:30 PM for NaNoWriMo participants, and 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM for Young Writers Program participants). Participants will be getting to know each other, posting their first word counts, and maybe challenging each other to some friendly word wars.
Looking for a little help getting started? checkout the IPL NaNo Tips page for tip, tools, and other writer friendly fun.

Looking for Volunteer Readers for the 4th of July!

Volunteer Readers Needed for Independence Day!

The Friends of the Independence Public Library is getting a group together to read the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July! About 15 volunteers are needed...each to read a segment of the declaration.

Volunteers will meet at the band shell in River Walk Park at 11:15 AM and begin reading at 11:20 AM. If you're interested in helping out you can contact Lois Stout at 334-6702.

The Friends of The Independence Public Library is a non-profit group of volunteers that raise money and support the IPL in various ways. Monthly meetings are held at the library on the first Thursday of each month (the next one will be August 7 at 6:00 pm).
